Chemical Engineering is a branch of engineering that scales up laboratory discoveries made by chemists to industrial-scale production. The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) defines this field as follows: the application of the principles of chemical and physical sciences, together with economic fundamentals and human relations, in areas that are directly concerned with processes and equipment in which materials undergo changes in state, energy content, or composition. In our country, Chemical Engineering is also one of the most important and widely used fields of study. This is because, as an oil-rich nation, we require the expertise of chemical engineers for the extraction, refining, and transportation of oil, as well as for the conversion of oil into other chemical products. Given this, it appears that one of the most critical responsibilities of chemical engineers in our country is to conduct research in the fields of oil, gas, and petrochemicals.
